Lexiannah Huch

Talofa lava, my name is Lexiannah Huch. I am a year 8 student at Glen Taylor School. I'm sports captain for 2019, I enjoy this role because I love to play all kinds of sports and helping other students out if they are struggling. 

I have repesented auckland basketball for 2 year, I was the youngest for the 2 years that I have played for them. 2018 I was only 12 playing with 13 & 14 year olds, 2019 still 12 when we went to nationals but then I turned 13. I was really proud becuase I over came the fear of playing with older girls.

My favourite subject is writing because I feel free and opened minded when I write, I got a peice of my writing published to a book called ''Toitoi'. That was such a big accomplisment for me. 

My biggest challenge this year would be going to auckland champs in october with the yr 8 girls because we made history at the eastern zone basketball competition, overall we came first and were all so happy.

Kite project

Today we worked with our buddy class room 5, The older kids had to go pick them 2 or 3 little room 5 students to work with. So I picked a proud tongan boy named Villami, he was very creative, happy and a funny student. We got given two papers and we had to make a dimond shape, after wards we got a long thin stick to place on the paper. Then we turned on the hot glue gun and sticked the long thin stick on the paper shaped as a dimond and then got a hole puncher. Villami put a hole in the middle of the kite and then cut 5 meters of the green thin string and put it into the hole. Then we ran outside and tested the kite if it could fly and it did we were very happy that it workd.

Today my group had reading. We had to pick a task card and learn about it so I wanted to learn about Tobacco. Here is what I had to do for 30 minutes. I had to read the questions that were on the reading card and answer them. I had a differnet mind set I wanted to ask teachers about my questions that were on the card. What Teachers Think About Tobacco

1. What is Tobacco? Cigarettes and it’s a drug Mrs Siale - Smokes & Cigarettes
2. What is nicotine? Mrs Halena - Poison for your body
3. What does the WHO estimate and what is predict?
4. What are three major health risks associated with smoking?( Mrs Faalili - Lung fathlery ,  Gangrene & heart fail ) Mrs Saieli - Lung problems, You can die Short breath - Mrs Halena - Heart attack, cancer & Diabetes
5. Why should smokers be at greater risk of dying from heart disease? Mrs Faalili - Idk  Mrs Siale - If your smoking then it can travel to your heart and blood system - Mrs Halena - Most is smoking because nicotine is blocking vein were blood cannot flow probably to heart .

What did you learn/enjoy/not enjoy about today’s work?

I learned that Tobacco is very dangerous for your health and the three MAJOR health problems where Lung

cancer, emphysema and heart disease.

I really enjoyed hearing what Mrs Siale, Mrs Faalili and Mrs Halena had to say about my questions I asked them.

I did not have anything work that I did not like today because I loved learning interesting facts about Tobacco.
